HIV Prevention Research and Community Partnership: Lessons Learned and Ways Forward

This symposium featured advocates from various areas of prevention research to reflect on the relevant issues for communities and advocates in their area: lessons learned and ways forward.

Topics include: community partnership in HIV prevention research, social mobilisation for microbicides in India, HIV vaccines research and community involvement, advocates’ experiences in engaging with oral tenofovir trials.

Advocating for HIV Prevention Options for Women: Knowledge, Skills and Practice

This skills-building workshop provided an overview of women's vulnerability to HIV and STIs and the need for prevention tools that take these realities into account. With participants, the workshop will delve into hot issues and ways to move forward as well as articulate goals for Asian advocates at local, national and international levels. Finally, participants will hear about a global effort for microbicides, and will identify ways in which they and their organization or network can get involved.
