How do I start an S4M chapter at my School?
1. Every school has different policies for establishing a student organization. Contact your student government/ union and find out your schools’ respective policies regarding organization establishment.
-
If your school requires an organizational mission statement, check out a sample S4M mission statement
2. Hold an informational meeting to interest students in joining an S4M chapter. If your school has a student activities fair, that is also a great way to inform students about S4M.
-
Use S4M’s tools to make establishing a chapter easy! Add your campus's details into the tools below. first S4M info meeting poster
-
Your campus paper is a great way to capture students' attention- Submit a short announcement or article to your campus paper: first S4M info meeting-campus paper announcement; first S4M info meeting-campus paper article (for U.S. use only)
-
Emails and listservs are great ways to reach a large number of students. S4M first informational meeting email

Have all attendees sign an email list, so you can let them know about upcoming S4M meetings and events on your campus. S4M member email sign in sheet
3. Once you have established an S4M chapter- hold an event or even fundraiser to start generating an S4M budget that can sustain S4M on your campus.
